The Palo Alto New Construction Process

Phase 1 — Site Assessment & Feasibility: We evaluate your lot’s zoning, setbacks, height limits, FAR (Floor Area Ratio), and any tree protection requirements before design begins.

Phase 2 — Architectural Design: We coordinate with Peninsula architects to produce permit-ready plans that meet Palo Alto’s residential design standards.

Phase 3 — Permit Submission: We submit to the Palo Alto Planning & Building Department, respond to plan check comments, and manage revisions through approval.

Phase 4 — Ground-Up Construction: Foundation, framing, roofing, MEP systems, insulation, exterior and interior finishes — all managed by a dedicated Atlas project manager.

Phase 5 — Final Inspections & CO: We manage all city inspections through final approval and deliver a complete warranty package.

Why Build New in Palo Alto?

Palo Alto’s median home value exceeds $3 million. Newly built homes in established Palo Alto neighborhoods consistently command premiums of 20–40% over comparable older homes, reflecting buyer demand for modern systems, energy efficiency, and move-in-ready condition.

Custom new construction also allows you to design for your life: open floor plans, home offices, EV charging infrastructure, Tesla Powerwall integration, and high-end kitchen and bath configurations that older Palo Alto homes simply cannot provide.

Atlas builds Palo Alto homes that are designed for the next 50 years.
